Matson Neighbourhood Project has just completed a summer programme designed for children and young people living in this disadvantaged area of Gloucester. The programme was delivered in the park areas of Matson where traditionally children and young people spend their time during the long summer holidays. Activities took place under cover for the majority of the time, but the new tent provided the necessary shelter so that painting, art and creative projects could take place in the dry. The children built camps, and enjoyed climbing trees, under the watchful supervision of Matson NP staff. The whole event had been a huge success the group reported at a recent open day. Other Neighbourhood Projects in the area also ran similar programmes, thereby entertaining hundreds of children in Gloucestershire through the summer.
